The Tony Evangelista Award Winners

The Tony Evangelista Award is the highest and most prestigious award given to an American Angler member. It will be given out once a year to the member who has shown dedication, participation, and loyalty towards the American Angler. The award started in 2018 and will become an annual tradition given out at the end of the year or shortly after. Beginning in 2018, only the President and winners of this award will be eligible to vote for the following year.

Tony Evangelista was a mentor to me and many others for over 25 years. He taught us how to surf fish with many of his own techniques and knowledge base. When times got tough, he encouraged us to go out on our own and was the first member to sign up for American Angler and keep the history thereof. He was present for the first meeting of American Angler and has become a highly regarded consultant to its development and growth. Without his wisdom, American Angler would not be where it is today. Therefore, we name our most prestigious award we after him. The Tony Evangelista Award.
